Karie Jewell

Karie, of Two Kwik Quilters, has been quilting for 27 years and designing from the very beginning when a friend handed her a rotary cutter, a mat and a ruler and then commented “there was a way to strip piece but she didn’t know how.”  Karie sat down with graph paper, figured out yardage requirements and what to do from there.  Soon, Karie started publishing her own quilting and bag patterns and teaching her quilting techniques, such as Stack and Slash, to simplify and speed up the piecing process.

Karie enjoys hand quilting, occasionally working on small whole cloth projects and has a passion for English Paper Piecing. Her designs flow from whatever technique she is enjoying at the moment and embrace her love of bright, saturated colors. Karie twists and reshapes traditional blocks and motifs giving them a fresh, new look. She often describes her style as “traditional with a modern flare.”

Currently, Karie has published over 80 patterns and plans to continue to design and publish as long as she feels inspired to do so. She spends as much time sewing and designing as she can only reluctantly breaking for necessary, but hated, tasks such as cooking or laundry.
