Legit Kits puts award winning, beautiful artistic quilts within reach of any quilter who can sew a straight line. Crystal clear, unparalleled patterns printed on the best foundation paper are free of Y seams and thoroughly tested by quilters ranging from beginner to expert. Larger than needed cuts of Kona Cotton accompany every full kit, allowing room for mistakes and leaving a colorful stash after completing your project.
Why are we different?
1.) Color. The entire rainbow of Robert Kaufman Kona Solids is used to create Legit Kits. Each kit or fabric pack comes with ample cuts of labeled fabric. An unabashed use of color makes for unequalled results.
2.) Our kits are printed, packaged, and hand assembled in the USA.
3.) We guarantee that you will have enough fabric, even if you cut a piece wrong or lose it. There is a lot of Kona around here, probably from the same dye lot as your kit. Send a message and we will replace the needed fabric for free.
4.) A revolutionary block approach to foundation paper piecing breaks large, complex appearing quilts into manageable pieces.
5.) UFO Protection Plan. Afraid a Legit Kits project will be too daunting? It won’t be, as blocks start falling into place, you will not want to quit. However, we offer a UFO Protection Plan for purchase at checkout. We will refund your full purchase price in exchange for your Un-Finished Object.
You got this. And we have your back.
From the founder, Mike O’Dell: I’m a multimedia artist who happened across quilting when my wife took up the pursuit several years ago. Large scale art always held a special place for me and a serious look at quilting really got the gears turning. As an outsider, I started drawing patterns by hand and developed my own style and technique to compensate for a lack of skill. Breaking large patterns into blocks made for an easy to print pattern as well as easier to piece elements. Years before discovering the quilt world, I bought my first sewing machine to make a Halloween costume. As I wheeled an unopened sewing machine box to the register, rows of solid colors on the shelves caught my eye causing a thought, “I want to make ART with all those COLORS.” Legit Kits is the realization of that concept, our patterns often use more than 50 and sometimes contain more than 100 different shades of Kona solids. Every design we make has to elicit an emotional reaction inside me or others or we won’t proceed with development. Composition and color are everything.
Stay Legit, my friends.-Mike
