Scarlett Rose

Scarlett Rose started quilting in 1976, teaching in 1986 and quilt judging in the early 1990s. Her grandmother and several ancestors were quiltmakers. Scarlett teaches for quilt guilds, shops and conferences throughout the United States. She has taught twice in Japan. Scarlett does lectures on Zoom worldwide.

Scarlett is a board member of the California Heritage Quilt Project and encourages quilters to document their quilts on the Quilt Index

While specializing in Celtic designs for all kinds of appliqué, embroidery, Sashiko, color markering and crayoning, Scarlett also designs scrap quilts, friendship quilts and foundation paperpieced quilts that are Modern innovations on classic patchwork patterns. She enjoys interpreting traditional symbols common to her multicultural heritage.

Scarlett combines her Japanese and Ainu (indigenous Japanese) influences with her Celtic work. These quilts are shown at events and entered in competitions. Besides her contemporary appliqué and patchwork quilts, Scarlett has also designed unique Wearable Art pieces and Art Quilts. She joined the Modern Quilt Guild in 2020 and is exploring new directions for her designs.

Scarlett has had her website at www.ScarlettRose.com since 1998. Her site has Galleries of much of her work, students’ work and Scarlett’s other interests, including her Japanese theme wedding. Scarlett Rose’s Celtic & More has a full line of Celtic appliqué, Asian inspired bias appliqué, paperpieced and innovative patchwork patterns in pdf for immediate purchase in her Etsy shop, including Celtic cross stitch designs.
