Message from the designer, Marcy Horswill: Emily Dickinson is a favourite poet of mine. This line, which is both the title and first stanza of the poem, comes to mind whenever I see birds soaring freely on the wind.
Bonaparte Gulls are migratory. You can imagine my surprise to find hundreds of them soaring and diving over the fields behind our home in landlocked Northern Alberta one day. I took several photos trying to capture their playful spirit. They stayed for three days, eating bugs and worms from the freshly plowed fields. The fourth day they were gone, travelling further north. Hope swept through and spring arrived.
